Coquito- My New Favorite Drink

Recently I had attended an event a friend was having. The sun had set, guest were mixing and mingling amongst themselves, and salsa music was flowing from the speakers across the room. On a tray little shot glasses filled with cream were being passed around the room.

Drinks in hand we toasted to our host.

In one shot my taste buds exploded and I had found my new favorite party drink.

What is this I ask and what’s the recipe??

Coquito is the response and it’s known as Puerto Rican eggnog. Traditionally made during the winter holiday, but any celebration is a good one. I continue enjoying my evening and leave with plans to make my own Coquito.

What you need (ingredients)

So here is what you need:

 2 cans coconut cream

1 can sweetened condensed milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2.5 cups of rum (white or dark)

1.5 tablespoon ground cinnamon

1 tablespoon ground nutmeg

6 egg yolks (give the drink consistency) 

If you want to mix it up a bit you can add a splash of pineapple juice. Remember the more juice/rum you use the thinner the consistency, and the longer you chill it in the freezer/refrigerator the more body it will have.


Blend all ingredients in a blender on high for 5 minutes.


Serve cold, sip and enjoy
